Commissions

If you would like me to photograph you or yours, I do sometimes accept paid commissions. I need to be somewhat selective, only because my kind of photography (traditional film and darkroom) is considerably more labor-intensive than the digital process, because it involves chemical development of the exposed film, followed by usually a full day of darkroom work, hand-printing each image (plus digital scanning and editing of the images, if required).   

That said, I am happy to consider doing portrait sessions with individuals or groups who have a special feeling for the kind of work that I do. I have a particular interest in working with people who, like me, are passionate about art, creativity, or spirituality. My images, for whatever reason, seem to have a special appeal to seekers of beauty and awareness, some of whom have been kind and generous enough to share with me their feelings about my work. Though I’m flexible, my basic rate for a photo-shoot (2-3 hours) and up to ten 8x10 hand-printed images is $625. For another $100 I am happy to provide professionally edited digital scans of all your images. In most cases, I will have your images (prints and scans) ready for you within 2-3 weeks following our photo-shoot.

Discounted and complimentary shoots

In special cases, I am willing to work for a very modest fee (or none at all) with individuals or projects that particularly interest me. I’ve worked on this basis, for example, with some dancers, musicians and other performers. I am also always keen to photograph women or girls of exceptional beauty - conventional or otherwise (see my gallery “Portraits of Women”).
